Gerhard Paul Beduerftig, 71, of Harvest, Ala. died Nov. 24, 2012.

He was born Aug. 31, 1941. He was a native of Germany. He was a graduate from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as graduating from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a master’s of Theology Degree and master’s of Religious Education.

He was a retired Southern Baptist Missionary with the Southern Baptist Convention. He was pastor of the Agape’ International Church in Huntsville. He served as a missionary in Belgium and Germany for 17 years, was a former pastor in New Orleans, Louisiana at Airline Baptist Church, and was formerly an engineer at Pratt & Whitney in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn White Beduerftig of Huntsville; one sister, Giesla Leitner Sprague, Ft. St. Lucie, Fla .

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hermann Fritz and Elly Tiedt Beduerftig.

Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service at the First Baptist Church of Jackson with Dr. Bobby Burt officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson.
