David Earl Blankenship, 77, Wagarville died Jan. 5, 2013.

He was born April 4, 1935. He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Sunflower United Methodist Church. He was a retired Chemical Operator with Ciba-Geigy Corp.

Survivors include his wife, Hester Parnell Blankenship, Wagarville; one son, Brian (Marcia) Blankenship, St. Stephens; two granddaughters, Lacey Blankenship, Diamondhead, Miss., Katie Blankenship, St. Stephens; four sisters, Annie Clara Jones, Hobson, June Flowers, Wagarville, Janet ( Thomas) Overstreet, Gainestown, Glenda (Frank) Shelby, Fairhope.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Sr. and Carrie Dell Milstead Blankenship, a son, David Dewayne Blankenship; two brothers and one sister.

The service was Jan. 6 at 3 p.m. at the Sunflower United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Sunflower United Methodist Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Rodger Williams, Harold Parnell, Tom Turner, Darrell W. Parnell, Terry Flowers, Ben Shelby, Jeremy Sullivan, and Tommy Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers were Gene Harrell, Joe Murphy, Tom Roberts, George King, Leamon Lane, Perry Dickey, Leon Cox, Donald Cox, Wilton Bailey, Johnny Gray Mosley, Gary Gartman and Allen Gartman.
