Elsie Merle Jackson, 87, of Thomasville died Jan. 27, 2013 at her residence.
She was born Sept. 11, 1925 in Surginer. She was a member of the Thomasville Baptist Church where she was a member of the T.E.L./Elect Ladies Sunday School Class. She was a volunteer with the Salvation Army. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl (Grady) Bedwell, Jackson, Beryl Anderson, Birmingham; five grandchildren, Don (Alaina) Anderson, Montgomery, Donna (Richard) Parrish, Madison, Brooke (Hampton) Smith, Lesley (Michael) Lightcap, Spanish Fort, Elizabeth (Chris) Bailey, all of Mobile; five great-grandchildren, Jackson Smith, Kennedy Smith, Anna Catherine Lightcap, Caroline Anderson and Mary Pierson Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jacob Jackson.
The service was Jan. 30 at 11 a.m. at Thomasville Baptist Church with Rev. Ty Parten officiating. Burial will be in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville.
Active pallbearers were Don Anderson, Richard Parrish, Michael Lightcap, Hampton Smith, Chris Bailey, Bob Megginson, Allen Jackson and Charlie Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Crow, Joe Hubka, Barbara Hubka, Andy Jackson, Harvey Sheffield, Lucille Sheffield, Joe Bill Jeffrey, Gary Cockerham, Willard Gates, Betty Jo Gates, Charles Wilson, Geraldine Blakeney and members of the T.E.L./Elect Ladies Sunday School Class at Thomasville Baptist Church.
