Tommie Dee Kennedy, 99, of Dickinson died Jan. 24, 2013 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.

She was born Nov. 18, 1913 in Jackson to Thomas M. and Martha Wilson Bradford. She attended Clarke County High School and the State Teacher’s College at Livingston (now University of West Alabama). She taught school in Pine Hill, Dickinson, Grove Hill and other locations. After her marriage to Hannis Kennedy, she worked in her father’s store, the T.M. Bradford General Store in Dickinson. At the tender age of 8 years, Mrs. Kennedy joined the Dickinson Baptist Church and remained a loyal member for 91 years never moving her membership and teaching Sunday School for over 50 years and participated in the WMU. She was also a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary, The Elizabeth Bradford Chapter DAR and the Homemakers Club.

Survivors include numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hannis Kennedy.

The service was Jan. 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Lathan Funeral Home. Burial was in the Magnolia Lawn Cemetery.
