Edward Lee Thornton Jr., 95, of Brewton died Jan. 24, 2013 at West Gate Village Nursing Home in Brewton.
He was born Nov. 23, 1917. He was a former resident of West Bend. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the Merchant Marine as well as a Mason for 50 plus years. He was a retired timber man and small store owner.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon (Ralph) Deas; two granddaughters, Cindy (Jim) Bandfield, Ginger (Dave) Brogan; four greatgrandchildren, Lee (Kelly) Cadenhead, Beth Cadenhead, Stacy (Kevin) Forsthoefel, Bud (Kayla) Brogan; three greatgreat grandsons, Taylor Cadenhead, Noah Cadenhead and Owen Cadenhead; dear friends, Ruby Cameron and her family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Thornton Sr. and Jennie Scruggs Thornton; two wives, Evelyn Seibert Thornton and Ruby Kate Williamson Thornton.
The service was Jan. 28 at noon at Lathan Funeral Home with Rev. Fred White and Bro. Lee Cadenhead officiating. Burial was in the West Bend Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Dave Brogan, Jim Bandfield, Lee Cadenhead, Bud Brogan, Kevin Forsthoefel and Tommy Cameron.
