Bobby C. “Billy” Brunson, 70, of Jackson died April 26, 2013.
He was born April 5, 1943. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Army. He was retired from Ciba after 43 years in the maintenance department where he was the “Master Chef.” He enjoyed fishing at Gee’s Bend, gardening, deer hunting and Alabama football. He was especially proud of his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Cecilia Brunson, Jackson; two sons, Greg (Brenda) Brunson, Kevin (Angela) Brunson, all of Jackson; two brothers, Arvin Ray (Nell) Brunson, Roy (Dawn) Brunson, all of Grove Hill; two sisters-in-law, Betty Jean (Willard) Pugh, Debra (Mike) Wilson, all of Thomasville; a brother-in-law, Rayford (Marie) White, Coffeeville; grandchildren, Dalton Brunson, Brianna Brunson and Madeline Brunson; step-grandchildren, Taylor Slayton and Tyler Slayton; like a daughter to him and his wife, Becky Alexander; numerous nephews and nieces and all of his Gee’s Bend family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvin Lester and Lillian Brunson and a brother, James Brunson.
The service was April 30 at 1 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel with Bros. Benny Harrison and Darryl Brunson officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Chilton.
Active pallbearers were Ryan Williams, Jerry James, Chris Newton, Chris Wimberly, Grant Gregory, Brian Blankenship, Andy Kennedy and Marvin Shelby.
Honorary pallbearers were co-workers of Ciba, Company 4 of Jackson Fire Department, Perry Cunningham, Ralph Roney, Frank Odom, Johnny Holston, Scott Holston, Wilson Dixon, Wayne Miller, Eddie York, Tom Jackson, Fred Walker, Derek James, Phillip James and A.J. Kennedy.
