Charles Bernard Casteel, 67, of Grove Hill died May 11, 2013 at his residence.

He was born Oct. 31, 1945 in Pine Hill. He was a member of the Sunny South Baptist Church. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a B & B Operator.

Survivors include his wife, LuVerne Casteel, Thomasville; three sons, Charles Allen “Buddy” (Daphne) Casteel, Richie C. (Jackie) Elmore, all of Thomasville, Jake (Mallory) Casteel, Pine Hill; three daughters, Jennifer Chaney, Charlie (Matthew) Flora, Torie Williams, all of Thomasville; one brother, Harold Casteel, Fulton; one sister, Lou Dell Baugh, Greenwood; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Casteel, William Howard Casteel; three sisters, Jeanette Casteel Baugh, Geneva Smith and Irene Casteel.

The service was May 14 at 2 p.m. at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Revs. Leon Parnell and Leon Harrison officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville.

Active pallbearers were Robert Autery, Ken Smith, Micah Autery, Brett Rush, Ethan Autery and Chris Baugh.

Honorary pallbearers were Alex Smith, Harold Casteel, Herman Lassiter and Floyd Walker.
