Pope

Sidney Russell Pope, 83, of Sweet Water died May 6, 2013 at his residence.

He was born March 1, 1930 in Sweet Water. He was a member of the Old Union Baptist Church. He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Pitts Pope, Sweet Water; one son, Barry Wayne Pope, Meridian, MS; three daughters, Charlotte (Richard) Buckner, Eutaw, Charlotte (Anthony) Brown, Orlando, FL, Kathy (Brant) Hunt, Boligee; one step-son, Cecil Pitts Jr., Waynesboro, MS; one stepdaughter, Tracy Burke, Clara, MS; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one greatgreat grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a step-son, Eddie Lee Pitts.

The service was May 9 at 11 a.m. at the Old Union Baptist Church with Revs. Larry Cox and Andy Etheridge officiating. Burial with military honors was in the Old Union Baptist Church in Sweet Water.

Active pallbearers were Bill Lockett, Marco Bezoari, Zach Hunt, Pete Harris, Greg Harris and Scott Irvin.

Honorary pallbearers were John Stegall, Frank Myers, Billy Smith, Ray Smith, Forest Corzealious and the staff of Day Star Hospice.
