He was born Dec. 23, 1951 to the parentage of the late Vadon Taylor and Annie Lee Johnson Taylor. He united with Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church of Millry. He was united in holy matrimony to Elaine Donaldson in 1975, and to this union four children were born. He worked for many years as a contractor. He directed his life toward Christ and became a minister and served the people for 38 years, Rev. Taylor pastored a host of churches during his lifetime, his first being Allen Temple A.M.E. of Silas, and his last being Saint Paul A.M.E. Church of Carlton.
Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Elaine Donaldson Taylor, Millry; one son, Robert L. Taylor Jr., Silas; two daughters, Omega Taylor, Alice Taylor, both of Mobile; one devoted brother; James V. Taylor, Waynesboro, MS; one devoted sister, Ora Lee Taylor, Silas; two step sisters; Frankie (Vernon) Whye and Mary Taylor; devoted aunt, Earlean Taylor; mother-in-law, Viola Howell; three brothers-in-law; Earnest (Jennifer) Donaldson, Harold (Willie) Donaldson, and Surry Donaldson; three sisters-inlaw, Harriett (Randall) Chapman, Tammie (Marcella) Mitchell, and Ethel Mae Johnson; four grandchildren, J’Lyn and Jaheem Taylor, both of Mobile and Roderick Taylor and Skyline Houston of Cleveland, OH; two devoted nephews; Chris Maye and Darion Taylor; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roderick Lee Taylor, a sister, Ethel (Fred) Maye, a step sister, Sarah (Eugene) Ray, a stepmother, Bertha Fail Taylor; a step-nephew, Brian Ray, and a sister-in-law, Lisa M. Taylor.
Viewing will be Saturday, May 25, 10-11 a.m. at Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church of Millry; Rev. Pamela Sainvilus, pastor; Rev. Dr. Clausell Boykin, eulogist. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery of Millry. Condolences may be made to the family at www.viewobit.com.
