Walter Henri Etheridge, 89, of Sweet Water died May 28, 2013 at his residence.

He was born Oct. 20, 1923 in Sweet Water. He was a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church. He was a World War II United States Army Veteran. He was a retired from Georgia Pacific Corp.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth M. Etheridge, Sweet Water; two sons, Stan (Carol) Etheridge, Thomasville Joe (Sandra) Etheridge, Jackson; a brother, Roy Etheridge, Sweet Water; two grandchildren, Mark (Hannah) Etheridge, Laurie (Mark) Mayo and their mother, Carolyn Weldon; two grandchildren, Schuyler and Colin Etheridge; three great-grandchildren, Madison Etheridge, Ellie Mayo, Sadie Kate Mayo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Betty Etheridge; two brothers, William Etheridge, Cecil “Bug” Etheridge; five sisters, Sadie Etheridge, Mary Etheridge, Jimmy Mayton, Saran Nolan and Elma “Dee” Glass.

The service was May 30 at 11 a.m. at Beaver Creek Baptist Church with Revs. Sidney Hill and Thomas Anderson officiating. Burial was at the Beaver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Sweet Water.

Active pallbearers were Colin Etheridge, Mark Etheridge, Mark Mayo, Bob Etheridge, Roy Etheridge Jr., Kenny Bedsole, Arthur Glass, Andy Etheredge, and Tommy Luker.
