Sherlin Elaine Rhone was born Aug. 24, 1959 in Thomasville to the late Willie Bell Pope and Alexander Rhone. She passed away May 15, 2013 at Saint James Hospital in Chicago Heights, Ill.
Confessing Christ at an early age, she joined the Rockwest A.M.E. Church in Thomasville, but has for many years attended Spencer Chapel A.M.E. Church in Fulton. On moving to Richton Park, she joined Family Harvest Church in Tinley Park, Ill. Her faith in the Lord helped her battle cancer. She was a kind, warm-hearted, loving sister, aunt, cousin and friend to her family and others.
A 1978 graduate of Thomasville High School, she attended college at Livingston University, the University of West Alabama, where she received a Bachelor Degree in social work. She worked at the University of Chicago as an administrative assistant.
She leaves to cherish her memories two brothers, Rhondel Rhone of Fulton and Melvin Rhone of Nashville, Tenn.; three sisters, Minister Marilyn Rhone of Tuscaloosa, Sherita ( Jerrold) Martin of Frankfort, Ill. and Marsha Pope of Nashville; three nieces, five nephews and two aunts, Shirley Poties of Mobile and Ovetta Yearwood of Atlanta, Ga.; and devoted friend, Shenita Jones and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
Graveside services were Thursday, May 23 at the Rockwest A.M.E. Church Cemetery with the Rev. Clausell Boykin officiating and under the direction of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson. (19-1tp)
