Lowell Burleson Lewis, 96, of Sweet Water died June 22, 2013 at Specialty Hospital of Meridian, Miss.
He was born Aug. 7, 1916 in Exmore, AL. He was a member of the Sweet Water Baptist Church. He was a retired postal carrier.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Glass Lewis, Sweet Water; one son, Stanley (Camilla) Lewis, Sweet Water; two daughters, Annita (Ralph) Perkins, Sweet Water, Wanda ( Joe) Powers, Milton, FL; one sister, LaVerl Barnhill, Sweet Water; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Gaston and Alma Hurt Lewis, grandson, Scott Perkins, two brothers, Ferrell Lewis, Glenn Lewis, one sister, RoNita Hendricks.
The service was June 25 at 11 a.m. at Sweet Water Baptist Church with Rev. Douglas Turner officiating. Burial was in the Sweet Water Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Michael Lewis, Mike Mendenhall, Bobby Digmon, Jason Powers, Doug Hurst and Jeff Lewis.
Honorary pallbearers were the Senior Adult Sunday School Class at Sweet Water Baptist Church and J.D. Flowers and Roy Etheridge.
