Recardo Jermaine Smith, 31, was born July 5, 1981 in Waynesboro, Miss. and passed away July 1, 2013. He would have been 32 years of age on his next birthday.
He was baptized at Knight’s Chapel Baptist Church in Millry, where he was active in the youth department. He later united with the King’s Chapel Baptist Church in Yarbo and served faithfully as a member of the Usher Board until his health declined and he could no longer do so.
He was a member of the 2001 graduating class of Washington County High School in Chatom.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Annie Young Smith; sister, Loretta Young Cooley; grandparents, Mary and Will Young and Emma and Lewis Smith.
Left to cherish his memories are one son, Jacorey Keyshawn Smith, Jackson; his father, Hugh Smith Sr., Jackson; three brothers, Haron (Gayle) Smith, Millry, Hugh Smith Jr., Keith Johnson, both of Meridian, Miss.; five nephews, Nicholas Smith, Marcus Smith, Scottie Smith, Wayne Smith, Christian Smith; devoted aunt, Marie (Cossie) Smith, Jackson; special friend, Veronica Johnson; two devoted friends, Gaines Bonner and Dewayne Franks; and a host of other aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
The service was July 8 at King’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Slater, pastor, and the Rev. Dr. Ernest Young as eulogist. Burial was at the Payne-Hamilton Cemetery in Millry.
Pallbearers were Nicholas Smith, Marcus Smith, Scotty Smith, Wayne Smith, LaDarius Smith and Dwayne Franks. Mr. Smith’s cousins were the flower bearers.
