Archie Lenard “Buddy” Rocker, age 65, a native of Carlton and a resident of Choctaw Bluff was born Sept. 16, 1947 to the parentage of the late Sam Rocker and Marie Taylor Rocker. He departed this life July 19 at his home.
He was a member of New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Choctaw Bluff where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, past district superintendent of the Union Missionary District Association. He was also a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge #139. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Keller and Janie Harris, and two brothers, J.T. Rocker and Luma Rocker.
Left to cherish his memories are: his wife, Lucille Slater Rocker of Jackson; three sons, Rev. Brian (Jennifer) Chapman of Jackson; Rev. Dexter (Janice) Chapman of Coffeeville; and Victor Rocker of Montgomery; one daughter, Emily (Stephen) McDonald of Jackson; two sisters, Maggie Bass of Theodore and Freddie (Marshall) Richardson of Jackson; nine grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.
