Mrs. Jessie Ree Chapman Law, age 79, a resident of Grove Hill, departed this life on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 at Jackson Health Care Facility. She was a member of the St. Luke Baptist Church in Grove Hill and a former member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church where she had served on the Usher Board and sang in the choir under the leadership of the Rev. Albert Ridgeway.

She is survived by five daughters, Diane Chapman of Foley, Carolyn Chapman of California, Rosie Bernard and Alesa (Floyd) Davis, both of Grove Hill and Anthonell Chapman of Jackson; two sons, Chief Virgil Chapman of Grove Hill and John Chapman of Moss Point, Miss.; 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one aunt, Mary Alice Pugh of Grove Hill; sisterin law, Geneva Todd of Jackson, Miss.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Law; three sons, John Earl Chapman, Euander Luther Chapman and Ishmael Chapman; two sisters, Henrietta Gamble and Leona Pugh; one brother, Alfred James Todd; and her parents, Ishmel Chapman and Amanda Edgar Chapman.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 11 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

Viewing will be Monday, August 12 from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. funeral hour at Mt. Zion No. 2 Baptist Church in Grove Hill with the Rev. William Jackson, pastor, and the Rev. Robert Jackson as officiating minister. Interment will follow in the St. Luke Cemetery in Grove Hill under the direction of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home. (29-1tp)
