Robert Earl Kirksey, 56, of Chatom, died Aug. 20, 2013 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital. He was a former employee of the Public Works Department for the Sanitation Department. He also served as a member of the United States Army until he was honorably discharged.
Survivors include four sons, Jeremy Davenport, Robert Davenport and Nicholas Davenport, all of Chatom, and Ronnie Smitjh, Laurel, Miss.; five brothers, Charles (Hazel) Napier, Hattiesburgh, Miss., Lewis (Hazel) Kirksey and Willie Malley, both of Chatom, Lonnie (Tina) Manuel, Calvert, Terry (Lorraine) Malley, Portland, Ore., Jimmy Holcombe of Florida; six sisters, Diane Smith, Brenda (Bobby) Leverett, Lisa Kirksey, Quetser Malley, all of Chatom, Debra Jackson of Hattiesburg and Nettie (Joe) Bell of Chatom; special friends, Roger Turner and Willie (Lottie) Adams; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Adams and Edwina Kirksey.
The service was Aug. 28, at Cooper Lewis C.M.E. Church in Chatom with Bishop Roger Kirksey as officiating minister. Interment followed in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Chatom, with Military Honors.
