Leora Jackson Smith was born to the union of Mattie and Henry Jackson on May 31, 1932. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 at the Citronelle Convalescent and Rehab Center in Citronelle.
She confessed her life to Christ at an early age and was an active member of Knights Chapel Baptist Church until her health began to fail her. She was active in the church and served faithfully on the usher board.
She graduated from Koenton High School and furthered her education at Selma University in Selma. Sister Leora Smith was a caring homemaker and loved her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Mattie and Henry Jackson, and six siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted daughter, Vanessa Lynn Smith; one sister, Ceona Mitchell; and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves to cherish her memories a devoted friend, Shinda Roscoe.
Funeral services were Aug. 27 at Knights Chapel Baptist Church in Millry with the Rev. Bobby Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Payne- Hamilton Cemetery in Millry.
