He united with Saint Union Baptist Church at an early age. He was a 1977 graduate of Jackson High School where he excelled in football. He was an avid Auburn Football fan, and enjoyed watching old time westerns. He was employed as a truck driver for 20 years with Evergreen Transport. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors are his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Julia Chapman Daffin; two daughters, Delishia Daffin, Moranda (Mandell Brown) Daffin; his father, James Hayden; one sister, Flora Jean Bettis, all of Jackson; five brothers, Carl (Monica) Darrington, El Paso, TX; Steve (Sandra) Daffin and Leon (Cynthia) Edgar, both of Jackson; Clifford (Denise) Edgar and Quinton (Valerie) Edgar, both of Mobile; one stepbrother, Sam (Gwendolyn) Montgomery, Jackson; mother-in-law, Rosana Roper; father-in-law, Lewis (Barbara) Chapman, two sisters-in-law, Verria (Charles) Beckham, all of Grove Hill; Princess (Thomas) Harrell of Waldorf, MD, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be Friday, Sept. 13 from 1 until 7 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home in Jackson. Viewing will be Saturday, Sept. 14 from 12 until the 1 p.m. service at Mt. Olive #2 Baptist Church, Jackson; Dr. S.E. Tullis, pastor; Dr. Thaddeus J.Z. Douglas, eulogist. Military rites at graveside. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Jackson.
