Walter Gaines “Botch” Henley Sr., 90, of Jackson died Sept. 11, 2013 at Jackson Health Care Facility.

He was born Aug. 24, 1923. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson and a past post commander with the Jackson VFW and a former Jaycee. He was a United States Army Veteran during World War II. He was a retired insurance agent with Liberty National Life Insurance Company.

Survivors include three sons, Walter Gaines “Jack” (Lynne) Henley Jr., Jackson, John Porter (Helen) Henley, Midland, MI, Frank McNair (Sandra) Henley, Salitpa; one sister, Tommie Chastain, Jackson; two grandsons, Matthew Porter (Nicole) Henley, John Andrew Henley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Porter Henley and parents, Thomas Thurman and Ida Corley Henley.

Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with Dr. Ben Stubblefield and Rev. Brian Jemison officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson.

Active pallbearers will be David Chastain, Lee May, Steve Shoultz, Craig Crew, Tom Henley, Matthew Henley and Andrew Henley.
