Gusteran Sullivan Roberts, 97, a native and resident of McIntosh, died Sept. 27, 2013 at Jackson Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 10, 1915 to the late Nonie and Gibb Roberts. She was a devoted and faithful member of the Church of God Deliverance in McIntosh where she served as the mother of the church and was a former superintendent of Sunday School.
Survivors include four sons, Gibb (Overseer N.G.) Roberts, McIntosh, Min. Fred L. (Min. Annetta) Roberts, Mt. Vernon, Bishop Willie D. (Effie) Roberts, Wagarville, Therman Roberts, Mobile; four daughters, Rev. Alvella (O.V.) Young, Charlene Roberts Turner, both of McIntosh, Alma (Melvin) Gardner, Mobile, Evangelist Mildred (Edward T.) Montgomery, Eight Mile; one brother, Welth Sullivan, Mt. Vernon; 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; caregivers, Shirley Ferrell, Julia Rivers, Helen Law and Vivian Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Roberts Sr.; one son, Lawrence Roberts Jr.; two sisters, Ollie Wiley and Edna Ferrell; three brothers, Raymond Sullivan, Albert Sullivan and Rev. James Sullivan.
The service was Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. at Church of God Pentecostal on Highway 43, McIntosh, with Elder Boddy Powe, pastor, and Bishop Willie D. Roberts officiating. Burial was in the Vaughn Cemetery in McIntosh.
