Doris Hildreth Cooper, 91, of Elba died Oct. 7, 2013 in Enterprise surrounded by her family.
She was a native of Enterprise and was the daughter of Jesse Lee and Rosa Mae Logan Hildreth. She was a graduate of Enterprise High School and continued a lifelong friendship with many of her classmates. Mrs. Cooper, at the age of 61, completed a degree in Art from Huntington College where she took great joy in her role as dorm mother. She was a familiar face who loved serving her community. While working at the Elba Public Library, she enjoyed sharing her love of books with children and adults alike. She was a faithful member of Elba United Methodist Church and took part in a variety of activities whenever possible. She was a proud member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed celebrating occasions with her many nieces and nephews.
Survivors include a brother, Lloyd (Anne) Hildreth, Marietta, GA; a sister, Joann Hildreth Loth, Edinburg, PA; children, Conny Cooper (Chris) Needels, Accomac, VA, Christina Cooper Brown, Gulf Shores, Cecelia Cooper (Reggie) Mobley, Birmingham, Hildreth Cooper, Durango, CO; grandchildren include, Christina Mobley (Patton) Dicus, Atlanta, GA, Jesse Hunt (Lindsey) Mobley, CeCe Brown (Bruce) Freeman, all of Birmingham, Phillip Wesley Brown Jr., Richland, GA, Connie Cooper, Savannah, GA, Chelsea Cooper, Alan (Amanda) Cooper, all of Elba, Cassy Cooper, Savannah, GA, Catlin Cooper, Kinston; Great grandchildren, Lawson Cooper, Christopher Cooper, Cora Bancroft Cooper, all of Elba, Brice Wesley Freeman, Birmingham.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Bancroft Cooper Jr., brothers - Ben, Max, James and J.L. Hildreth, sisters, Elaine Hildreth Price and Betty Hildreth Carter.
A memorial service was held at the Elba United Methodist Church on Friday, Oct. 11 at 2 p.m.
