Agatha “Aggie” Horn, 54, of Grove Hill died Nov. 7, 2013.
She was born June 25, 1959 to the union of the late Johnnie Horn and the Mattie Horn in Grove Hill. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Orange Hill Baptist Church. She was educated in the Clarke County School System where she graduated from in the CCHS Class of 1977. She continued her education at Alabama A&M University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduation she worked at the Piney Woods School in Piney Woods, Miss. She returned home and was employed by Grove Hill Memorial Hospital until she retired. She will be remembered as a “caregiver.” She spent her retirement caring for her aunt, her father and later her great nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered for her delicious cakes and party dips.
Survivors include two brothers, Allen Horn, Montgomery, Tony (Candice) Horn, Mobile; three sisters, Deloris (Brent) McCauley, Murfreesboro, Tenn., Venita Love, Cleveland, Ohio, LaVernes (Johnny) Mitchell, Montgomery; one uncle, Robert J. Horn, Montgomery; five aunts, Viola Joran, Mattie J. Howze, both of Montgomery, Mary L. Cox, Atlanta, Ga., Roberta Horn, Marion, Grace Horn, Detroit, Michigan; six nephews, Aaron McCauley, Jamie McCauley, Brent McCauley, Johnny “Mitch” Mitchell Jr., Nelson Love, Diego “DJ” Love; seven nieces, LaChanda (Demetrius) Turner, NaShetta (Jermaine) Roswell, Tiana Love, Tammy McCauley, Breanna Mitchell, Tia Horn, Paige Barnes and a host of great-nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Lastly, she leaves the loves of her life, honorary children—Blake Rowell, Mattison Rowell, Lauren Turner and Landon Turner.
She was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Horn Sr., her mother, Mattie Horn and a brother, Johnnie Horn Jr.
Active pallbearers were Jason Burroughs Sr., Bernard Mitchell, Leslie Horn, Gerald Howze, Leo Simmons and Willie Horn Jr.
Flower bearers were cousins and friends.
The service was Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Orange Hill Baptist Church with Revs. Fernell Pendleton, officiating and James Barron as pastor. Burial was in the Orange Hill Cemetery in Grove Hill.
