Barbara Cayley Ford, 85, of Thomasville died Nov. 24, 2013 at Thomasville Health Care & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 12, 1928 in Waxahachie, Texas. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University in 1948. That same year she married Edwin Ford of Thomasville. After living in Jacksonville, Birmingham, and Mobile, she and Edwin moved to Thomasville in 1965 and she began teaching science in the Thomasville Elementary School. She retired from the Thomasville City Schools in 1990. She was a member of the Clarke County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Thomasville United Methodist Church. She was active in the United Methodist Women. She was a 30-year member of the Research Club. She was an avid reader and active in the Friends of the Library.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin R. Ford, Thomasville; children, Melanie F. (Haynes) Kelley, Montgomery, Stephen G. Ford, Thomasville, Melissa F. (Alex) Taylor, Houston, Texas; seven grandsons and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Nov. 30 at 1:30 p.m. at Thomasville United Methodist Church with Rev. George Sedberry officiating.
