Minerva Reed, 85, died Nov. 15, 2013 at the Washington County Nursing Home in Chatom.

She was born Nov. 19, 1928 to the late Walter Coleman and Ella Roberts- Coleman.

United in holy matrimony to Eugene Reed Sr., the couple brought 10 children into the world. She united with Lewis Grove Baptist Church of Wagarville and served as an Adult Sunday School teacher until her health failed.

Survivors include three sons, Eugene (Emma) Reed Jr., Frankie Reed, John Reed, all of Wagarville; three daughters, Ella Lang, Wagarville, Eugenia (Clenton) Collins, Prestwick, Magalene Reed, Waterloo, Iowa; four sisters, Iris (Johnnie) Hoskins, Philadelphia, Miss., Lois Stewart, Eight Mile, Shirley (Clarence) Barlow, Omaha, Neb., Elnora Nettles, Axis; two brothers, Freddie Coleman, Palentine, Ill., Coy (Nola) Coleman, Omaha, Neb.; one sister-in-law, Mary (Fred) Williams, Sunflower; two daughters-in-law, Priscilla Coleman, McIntosh, Dorothy Reed, Jackson; 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Coleman and Wilbert and Ella Dixon; loving husband, Eugene Reed Sr.; four sons, Levi Coleman, Charles Reed, James Reed and Randy Reed; four sisters, Ora Lee Crook, Gusterine Lidell, Laura Moten and Ruby Dell Boston; two brothers, Frank and Sylvester Coleman.

The service was Nov. 23 at 11 a.m. at Lewis Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Ceasor Abston, pastor, as officiating minister. Burial was in the Lewis Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
