“MuDear” as she was known by most, was a resident of Choctaw Bluff. She was born to the late Findley and Annie Boykin Mitchell on Oct. 5, 1935.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was the oldest member of the St. James A.M.E. Church in Choctaw Bluff when she passed. She was first lady of Ebenezer Baptist Church located in Coffeeville.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Albert Ridgeway; five surviving children, Eola, Robert, Pamela, Sonja and Mary; two stepchildren, Mark and Mary; a sister, Bessie (David) McBride; sisters in-law, Emily (Alfred) Mitchell, Carrie (Elijah) Mitchell, Johnnie ( James) Mitchell and Audrey (Eugene) Mitchell; devoted aunt, Wilcy Mae Boykin; and 16 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was the fourth of nine children, of which seven preceded her in death: Alfred, Elijah, Willie, James and Eugene Mitchell, Wilcey M. Campbell and Rose Bradley. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Chubby and DeLaney Mitchell.
Viewing will be Thursday, Dec. 19, from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at 12 noon, at St. James A.M.E. Church in Choctaw Bluff with Rev. Clausell Boykin, pastor, as officiating minister.
Burial will follow in the St. James A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Choctaw Bluff.
