Eddie James Bryant Jr., 60, died Dec. 26, 2013 at Jackson Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 21, 1953 in Walker Springs to the loving parentage of Mary Lee Jackson Bryant and the late Eddie James “Champ” Bryant Sr. He was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Luke Baptist Church of Walker Springs where he served dutifully as a deacon. He enjoyed leading prayer service and singing his favorite hymn, “I’m Glad Salvation Is Free.” His hobbies included watching football. His two favorite teams were the Jackson Aggies and Alabama Crimson Tide. Prior to receiving medical retirement, Eddie was employed with Scotch Plywood in Fulton for 26 years.
Survivors include a loving and devoted family; wife of 36 years, Augustine Brown Bryant, Walker Springs; two sons, Eric Hunt, Duluth, Ga., Eddie “Bo” (Erica) Bryant, Walker Springs; two daughters, Kena Bryant (Adrain) Lewis, Walker Springs, Roneka Bryant (Marques) Gamble, Putnam; mother, Mary Lee Bryant, Walker Springs; four sisters, Dorothy (Nathaniel) Scott, Minnie Pritchett, Drusilla Bryant, all of Walker Springs, Stassa (Benjamin) Thoms, Douglasville, Ga.; six brothers, Sylvester (Rose) Bryant, Jackson, Ira ( Jessie) Bryant, Grove Hill, Maury ( Jacqueline) Bryant, Orenthal Bryant, Cassius (Tonia) Bryant, all of Walker Springs, Fred (Dora) Bryant, St. Stephens; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The service was Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church in Walker Springs with Rev. Bobby J. White, pastor and eulogist, officiating. Burial was in the Hotel Hill Cemetery in Walker Springs.
