Homer Lawrence Allison Jr., 75, of Grove Hill died Jan. 14, 2014 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 3, 1938. He was a native of Marysville, Tenn. He was a member of Tompkins Baptist Church. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Air Force from which he retired after serving 20 years. He also worked for the Alabama Department of Transportation for 20 years as a highway maintenance technician. He then worked at Walmart in Thomasville as a people greeter.
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara L. Allison, Grove Hill; two sons, Jeremy S. Allison, Leesville, Jason E. (Sarah) Allison, Silverhill; other children from previous marriage, a son, Tim Allison, Georgia and a daughter, Angela (Chris) Nelson, Andalusia; four siblings, William (Betty) Allison, Jackson, Grace (John) Motes, Mascoutah, Ill., Trenton (Janet) Allison, Grove Hill, Marty Deas, Saraland; six grandchildren; one greatgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Thelma Allison, Grove Hill; a sister, Shelby Atkins who is survived by her husband, Alfred Atkins of Tennessee.
The service was Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. at Tompkins Baptist Church with Bro. Johnny Kendrick officiating. Burial was in Tompkins Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jacob Allison, Brian Waldrop, Kenny Deas, Barry Chancey, Leon Allison and Heath Tucker.
