Archie Winston Stringer, 91, of Thomasville died Jan. 10, 2014 at Thomasville Health Care & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Nov. 11, 1922 in Finley Crossing, Ala. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran, member of the American Legion Post #112 and Blue Rock Hunting Club. He was a retired mail carrier.

Survivors include his wife, Jesse Lee Stringer, Thomasville; two daughters, Rose Breitling, Gallion, June Gray Tucker, Demopolis; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Alice Jeannine Barron, one son, John Bragg Tucker Jr., one grandson, Samuel Breitling; his father, Peter G. Stringer; his mother, Nettie Lee Stringer.

The service was Jan. 13 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Revs. Don Newton and Ty Parten officiating. Burial was in the Finley Crossing Cemetery in Thomasville.

Active pallbearers were James Barron, James Breitling, Charles Hamilton, Allen Hamilton, Ken Hamilton and John Bragg Tucker.
