Christine Hannon Taylor was called home from labor to reward on Jan. 16, 2014.

She departed this life at West Chester Rehal and Nursing Home in Mt.Vernon, N.Y. A member of Little Burrah Baptist Church in Manila, she was the oldest member of the church congregation and served as the mother of the church. Mrs. Christine was a great community leader and worked as a poll worker for a number of years at the Walker Springs Poll.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Cornelius Ely King.

Mrs. Taylor leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Tobither Perez and Joan Berry, both of New York, and Crissie Lewis of California; two sons, Wilkie (Mattie) Hannon and Leroy Hannon, both of Alabama; two sisters, Sallie Mae Lewis of Alabama and Ethel Bertrand of Florida; 28 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, greatgreat grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m., at Little Burrah Baptist Church in Manila. The Rev. Jimmy Snell is pastor and the Rev. William Jackson officiated. Interment followed in the Hannon Cemetery in Manila under the direction of Jackson Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson.
