Herman Phinn Waters, 58, of Excel passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Monroe County Hospital.
He was born May 2, 1955 in Conecuh County and lived most of his life in Conecuh and Monroe Counties. He was a member of Coleman Assembly of God Church in Wildfork. He attended Patrick Henry Community College, Auburn University and Alabama A & M earning a master’s degree. He worked with Excel School System as a agriculture teacher.
Mr. Waters is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. R.C. and Marguerite Waters and his nephew, Raymond Dennis Booker.
Survivors include his son, Cory Waters of Eclectic, Ala.; his daughter, Tara McDonald and husband, Blake of Jackson; his brothers, Douglas (Kate) Waters of Uriah, Raybon (Myrtle) Waters of Repton, Jimmy (Donna) Waters of Monroeville, Reginald (Frances) Waters of Monroeville and Carlton (Regina) Waters of Evergreen; his sisters, Gayle Booker of Atlanta, Dorothy Brooks Rawls and Jane Manning, both of Repton and one grandchild.
The service was Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Olive Cagle and Rev. Mitchell Jordan officiating. Burial was in the Oak Dale Assembly of God Church Cemetery in Repton.
