Carl Jerald “Jerry” Edwards, 73, of Thomasville died Feb. 10, 2014 at his residence.

He was born Nov. 17, 1940 in Evansville, Ind. He was a graduate of Linden High School’s Class of 1958.  Jerry’s career included the United States Postal Service (mail carrier), a United Parcel Service driver and district manager. After leaving UPS, he got into the movie theatre business. He was the owner of the Thomasville and Marengo Theatres until 2012 and was known by many as “The Movie Man.” He loved growing vegetables and always had a large garden. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda G. Edwards, Thomasville; three sons, Eddie (Darlene) Edwards, Linden, Robert “Bobby” Edwards, Foley, Danny Edwards, Linden; two daughters, Leigh Ann (Pat) Edward Ezell, Livingston, Ashley E. Edwards, Thomasville; stepson, Mancel D. (Chrissy) Louallen, Pine Hill; two stepdaughters, Angela Louallen Johnson, Thomasville, Wendy Louallen (Stephen) Phillips, Locust Grove, Ga.; two sisters, Judy Edwards, Joyce Edwards, Demopolis; 15 grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl E. and Virginia M. Edwards, sister Janice Edwards, son, Joey Edwards and stepdaughter, Tina Louallen Moss.

The service was Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. James Morgan officiating. Burial was in the Christian Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville.

Active pallbearers were Jessie Moss Sr., Jessie Moss Jr., Steven Louallen, Dustin Edwards, Walt Ezell and Pat Ezell.
