Roy LaVerne Mott Sr., 91, of Fulton died Feb. 12, 2014 at William F Green State Veterans Home.

He was born Oct. 7, 1922 in Fulton. He was a retired teacher at Hobson State Technical College. He was a member of the Thomasville United Methodist Church. He was a World War II United States Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Ann Mott, Hayden; two sons, Roy LaVerne Mott Jr., Thomasivlle, Vivian Mott, Fulton; sister, Maris Dauphin, Clifton Ferry, Ala.; brother, Roge Mott, Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Kate Kelley Mott, parents, Marion Mack Mott and Leila Fendley Mott and a brother, Mack Mott.

The service was Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Thomasville United Methodist Church with Rev. George Sedberry officiating. Burial was in the Bassett Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Grove Hill.

Active pallbearers were Jim Bonner, Douglas Mott, Joe Lolley, Bob Chaney, Jerry Vick, Jimmy Earl Davis, Steve Calvery and Lavaughn Fendley Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were members of Mott’s Picking Parlor Group.

Memorials may be made to the Thomasville United Methodist Church.
