Larry N. Sullivan, 71, of Wagarville died March 12, 2014 after a hard fought battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 29, 1943. He was a native of Whistler. He a 1951 graduate of Vigor High School, a four year veteran of the United States Air Force honorable discharged in 1966, a two-term Prichard City Councilman from 1972-76 and 1984-88. He was a past Master of the Bowen Masonic Lodge #240, Whistler. He retired from Boise Cascade Paper Mill as an electrician in 2008 where he served as President of the USW Local 9-361.
Survivors include his wife, Shelby Chapman Sullivan; one son, Randy Sullivan, Mobile; two daughters, Robin Overstreet, Spanish Fort, Tara (Matt) Wargo, Bay Minette; one sister, Elaine (Wilson) Beesley, Satsuma; one brother, Kevin (Lisa) Sullivan, Wagarville; four grandchildren, Blake Overstreet, Ashton Sullivan, Bailey Sullivan and Macy Wargo; four step-children, Jan Chapman, John D. (Dana) Chapman, Sam Chapman and Chris (Nan) Chapman; 12 step-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.O. and Ruby Sullivan and two brothers, J.O. (Jimmy) Sullivan Jr. and Michael Sullivan.
The service was March 15 at noon at the chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial was in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wagarville.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Ebenezer Cemetery Fund, 159 Churchway Drive, Wagarville.
Active pallbearers were Jeff Beesley, Jeremy Sullivan, John Chapman, Chris Chapman and Ronnie Townsend.
Honorary pallbearers were 1&E Department at Boise Cascade Paper Mill, Retired friends of Prichard Fire and Police Department and Terry McLeod.
