Carolyn Taylor Howard French was born March 2, 1945 in Jackson, Ala. to the parentage of the late James Taylor and Lela Mae Finch Taylor. She departed this life April 16, 2014 at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, Mobile, Ala.

She was educated in the Clarke County School System. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Herman Howard, Sr., and to this union, six children were born. She was later married to Willie French, who also preceded her in death.

She retired as a seamstress from Vanity Fair Mills in Jackson. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Saint Union Baptist Church of Jackson where she served as youth director, a student in the Ladies Sunday School Class, and sang in the adult choir until her health failed.

Left to cherish her loving memories, are her devoted family of five sons, Richard (Velma) Howard of Gainestown, Norman (Sundra) Howard of McIntosh, Kenneth Howard, Herman Howard Jr., and Fredrick (Jauria) Howard, all of Jackson; one daughter, Katrina (Jermaine) Hill of Panama City, Fla.; a step-daughter, Dorothy French of Jackson; four sisters,  Dorothy (Andre) Speights of Panama City, Fla., Shirley (Alphonso) Jackson of Jackson, Theresa Thomas of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Lanetta (Gabriel) Gholston of Saraland; three brothers, Walter L. (Elizabeth) Taylor of Jackson, Clydre Taylor of Birmingham, Eric (Alma) Taylor of Mobile; 24 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Lenny Howard, two step-daughters, Sylvia and Darlene French; four sisters, Hazel Taylor, Lela Ruth McClain, Charlotte Taylor, and Lanita Taylor; two brothers, Eddie James Taylor, and Wayne Taylor.

Viewing will be Wednesday, April 23 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service at Saint Union Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson; Dr. James M. Howard, Sr., pastor; Rev. Norman J. Howard, eulogist.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and granddaughters served as flower bearers. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson. Condolences to the family at Andrews Funeral Home Facebook page and at www.viewobit.com. Services with sincere sympathy and legendary professionalism.
