Minnie Lee Herring transitioned from this life on Dec. 20, 2014 while at her Frankville home. She was born in Dallas County to Sarah James and Joe Woodard and reared in Frankville by Pearl and Sam Coker. She was a member of the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Frankville, where she served as a nursery leader and with the women’s mission union.

Survivors include her loving husband, L.D. Herring of Frankville; son, Roy Lee Thompson Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Brenda Lee Thompson of Columbus; four stepsons, Leroy (Karen) Thompson and Timothy Johnson, both of Columbus, Jermaine (Sherry Denise) Herring of Tuscaloosa and LaMark Herring of Bladon Springs; two stepdaughters, Rochelle Dillard of Columbus and Janice Herring of Mobile; two brothers, Samuel Davis Jr. of Mobile and James (Shirley) Coker of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Rosie Lee Merida of Frankville and Mary Woodard of Chatom; an uncle, Ned (Sallie Mae) Woodard of Creola; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Thompson Sr.; siblings, Henry “Pap” Coker Sr., Daisy Sharp, Joe D. Woodard and Lucy Abston-McCarty; and grandson, Nicholas Lee Thompson.

The service was Jan. 3 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Frankville. Burial was at Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Anthony Kimbrough officiating.
