Johnny Horne, 64, departed this life Oct. 5, 2015 at his residence.

He was born Sept. 4, 1951 to the parentage of the late James Horne and the late Birdie Marie Rivers Horne. He was a native and resident of Whatley. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Whatley. “Butch”, as he was affectionately known, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and listening to Christian music. He also loved softball and enjoyed playing on the Whatley Outlaws Softball Team. He retired after 39 years of employment as a chemical specialist with BASF (formerly Ciba Corporation).

Survivors include his wife, Lucinda Horne, Whatley; two sons, Jaworski Horne, Damien Vashun Horne, both of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Dennis Michael (Genet) Horne, Whatley; two grandchildren, Aja Horne, Morgan Horne and a host of other relatives and friends.

The service will be Saturday, Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Whatley with Rev. Fernell Pendleton, pastor and eulogist. Burial will be in the First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church following burial.
