William Reginald Barnes, 74, of Scyrene, died July 4, 2016 at his residence.

He was born May 10, 1942 in Chance. He was a retired woodyard operator with Weyerhaeuser.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Averitt Barnes, Scyrene; one son, John (Kim) Barnes, Scyrene; two daughters, Paula (Darren) Powell, Teresa L. (Wayne) Dees, Scyrene; brother, Billy (Pat) Barnes, Thomasville; one sister, Hazel Linton, Thomasville; five grandchildren, Matt Powell, Grove Hill, Nichole Powell, Ethan Dees, Justin Dees, Caleb House, Scyrene; five grandchildren, Hunter Ramsey, Fulton, Jaylan Powell, Pine Hill, Kenlee McKee, Scyrene, R.J. Farish, Bucky Farish, Grove Hill.

A graveside service was July 7 at 10 a.m. in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Steve Trader officiating.

Active pallbearers were John Champion, Caleb House, Ray Williams, Ray Barnes, Bobby Johnson, Wayne Currie, Brian McCary and Geoffrey McKeith.

Honorary pallbearers were Natahn Currie, Phillip Averitt and Keith Savoier.
