Stella Elizabeth McCorquodale, 94, of Grove Hill died Aug. 4, 2016 at the Jackson Healthcare Facility. She had resided in Grove Hill for most of her life.

She was born Oct. 21, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Euless B. Moore and Margaret Betty (Maggie) Waite. She was a member of the Grove Hill United Methodist Church and was one of the best cooks in the area. Her homemade cheese straws were especially delicious. At the Jackson Health Care Facility where she had recently resided, she was crowned its queen in 2015.

Survivors include a nephew, Richard Lawrence “Larry” Moore, Georgia; many cousins who affectionately called her “Aunt” Stella.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis T. McCorquodale Jr. and her son, Curtis T. McCorquodale III.

A graveside service was Saturday, Aug. 6 at the Grove Hill Cemetery.
