Richard David Coleman, 62, of Jackson died Aug. 23, 2016 at his residence.

He was born Aug. 7, 1954 in Mobile. He was a member of Tompkins Baptist Church. He was a retired police officer with the Jackson Police Department.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Edge Coleman, Jackson; two daughters, Jennifer (Jason) Motes, Leroy, Kayla (Golden) Coleman, Jackson; five grandchildren, Sydnee Motes, Presley Motes, Shelby Motes, Daniel Motes and Ryder Coleman.

The service was Aug. 25 at 11 a.m. at Tompkins Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Kendrick and Rev. James Watkins officiating. Burial with honors was at Tompkins Baptist Church Cemetery in Grove Hill.

Active pallbearers were Lem DuBose, Darrell Linder, Richard Harvey, Kenny Smith, Mike Ready and Norman “Buzz” Jordan.

Honorary pallbearers were the Jackson Police Department present, past and retired.
