John Floyd Calhoun, 92, of Grove Hill passed away Aug. 31, 2016 at Jackson Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 7, 1923 to John Winters Calhoun and Lena Carter Calhoun. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a prisoner of war in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II in 1944. He was a graduate of Auburn University. He retired from the Clarke County Health Department where he served as the health administrator for Clarke, Washington and Choctaw counties.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia (Ralph) Garrick, Chatom; grandchildren, Kyle (Allison) Calhoun, Allieson (Justin) Crager, Colin (Kellie) Garrick, Kathryn Calhoun; daughter-in-law, Susan Calhoun Hill; great-grandchildren, John Robert Calhoun and Emily Kate Crager.

The service was Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill with Rev. Holly Morales officiating. Interment was in the Grove Hill Cemetery.
