Rev. Marion Louise Bernard, 80, better known as “Sister Baby” traded time for eternity on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, while at her earthly residence in Jackson.

She was born Dec. 16, 1935 to George Sr. and Johnnie Mae Meadows White. She met and married Claudzell Bernard Sr. and was blessed with 8 children. She provided for her family working as a housekeeper at Jackson Hospital. She was a faithful member of the Jackson AOH Church of God of Jackson where she served as an associate minister, choir member, on the Mother Board, missionary and trustee under the leadership of Rev. R.W. Moss.

Sister Baby is survived by three daughters, Glarin Hadley, Shirley (Ronnie) Starling, Ida Bernard all of Jackson; three sons, Clausell Bernard Jr., James ( Johnnie) Bernard both of Jackson, Darrion Bernard, Helena, Ala., three adopted children, Shameka (Kenneth) Jackson, Floyd Bernard and Genesis Bernard; one sister, Ernestine Brown, Houston, Texas; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Claudzell Bernard Sr.; son, Sonny Bernard; daughter, Mae Reatha Bernard; sisters, Marzarene Clay and Mary White; brothers, George White Jr. and Freddie White.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, Sept. 9 beginning at 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 203 East Ross St. The service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Union Baptist Church in Jackson. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery of Jackson.
