Wilbur Hatfield Jr., 52, of Jackson, departed this life Sept. 12, 2016 at USA Medical Center in Mobile to be with his heavenly Father.

He was born Sept. 5, 1964 to Lucinda Nickson and Wilbur Hatfield Sr. He was an active and dedicated member of New Birth Outreach Center Church in Thomasville, where he was an elder. He also worshiped with the Gideons of Washington County. A member of the VFW Post No. 5355 of Jackson, he served as a Quarter Master. He served in the U.S. Army receiving a Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Southwest ASSIA Service Medal, with two Bronze Service Stars.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Regene Hatfield, Jackson; son, Kaleb W. Hatfield, San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Kalah E. Hatfield, Canal Winchester, Ohio; two brothers, Walterson Nickson and Alfred (Janice) Hatfield, both of Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Dale Barnes, and a sister, Delphine N. Hatfield Robinson.

Viewing will be Friday, Sept. 23, from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church in Jackson with Rev. Stevenson E. Tullis as pastor and Apostle Keith Williams as officiating minister. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson with Military Honors.
