Captain James “Jim” Leon Nichols Sr., 68, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016.

Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Jackie Nichols, children, James Nichols Jr., (Jamie), Scott Eggleston, Jennifer Earwood (Rodney), Whitney Clay (B.J.), twelve grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Hudson (Don) of Augusta, Georgia and Ann Hudson (Bob) of Bel Air, Maryland; two step-sisters, Carolyn Fendley Roberts and Betty Fendley Thompson; sister-in-law, Judy Nichols and a host of other relatives whom he loved very much. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, C.D. and Valera Nichols, parents-in-law, Jack and Shirley Downs, brother, Jacky Nichols, daughter, Stephanie Nichols, two grandchildren, Callie Clay and Austin Earwood and a nephew, Richard Hudson.

The service will be Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Central Church in Collierville, Tenn.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that memorial contributions to be made in Captain Nichols’ name to either the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fun or the Memphis Police Association.
