Mrs. Rosie Marie Griffin Adams, age 73, a native of Calvert and a resident of McIntosh was born November 12, 1942 to the parentage of the late Rev. Willie Griffin Sr. and the late Mrs. Odessa Smith Griffin. She departed this life October 12, 2016 at her home.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Dr. Dave Adams, Jr., on July 3,1960 and to this union 10 children were born; one daughter, Connie Adams, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Adams was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, McIntosh, where she served faithfully as a deaconess, chairman of the hospitality committee and in numerous auxiliaries. Prior to her husband’s retirement, she was the beloved First Lady of Little Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church of Sunflower, and Greater Mackey Branch Missionary Baptist Church #2 of Gosport.

Mrs. Adams retired after 25 years of dedicated service as a Mental Health Worker III at Searcy Hospital, Mt. Vernon.

In addition to her parents and a daughter, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by three brothers, Willie Griffin Jr., Gardner Griffin and Peter Griffin; and one grandson, Phillip A. Lamar, and one great-granddaughter, Jadah N. West.

She will forever be cherished in the hearts of her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Dr. Dave Adams Jr. of McIntosh; four sons, Donnie G. Adams of Montgomery, Arnold B. Adams, and Justin D. Adams, both of McIntosh and Alex D. Adams of Mobile; five daughters, Glenda A. Stephens of McIntosh, Linda F. (Robert) White of Cincinnati, Ohio, Joyce B. Turner and Myrtle C. (Michael) Davis, both of Birmingham, Stephanie D. (Rev. James Jr.) West of Axis, Alecia D. Adams of Mobile; four sisters, Irma (Freddie) Bettis of Malcolm, Alice (Henry) Gaines and Dorothy Griffin, both of Calvert; Debra Akhimie of Montgomery; three brothers, Calvin (Dorothy) Griffin of Wagarville, Marion (Hazel) Griffin of Foley and John (Beverly) Griffin of Calvert; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, one godson, Colby Adams, of McIntosh and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The service was Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in McIntosh with Rev. Craig Westry as pastor/eulogist.
