Ida Mae Daffin Jones, 98, of Jackson departed this life Friday, Dec. 23, 2016 at Jackson Health Care.

 She was born March 23, 1918 to Asberry Sr. and Penny Thomas Daffin.

A faithful member of the St. Union Baptist Church of Jackson before her declining health, she sang in the choir for many years, was a member of the Missionary Society and was also on the Hospitality Committee.

Ida leaves to cherish her sweet memories a devoted great-niece and caregiver, Danyale “Roche” Blanks Wilson; six nieces, Jacqueline Blanks, Lillian “Pat” Adams, Belinda Beck, Joan (Sam) Yates, Wynona Young and Barbara (Abdul) Tiger; 12 nephews, Jessie Blanks, Asberry (Mary) Daffin III, Roosevelt (Stephanie) Daffin, Yancey (Cassandra) Daffin, James Daffin Jr., Vaughn Earl (Bettye) Lowe, Willie Earl Lowe, Richard Lowe, Tommy Lowe, Edward Nix, Grady W. Daffin and Larry Dunham; devoted great-great-nephew, Romond Blanks; god-son, Lent Earl Daffin; and a host of other cousins and close friends.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, her husband, Ben “Benny” Jones Jr.; and 13 of her siblings. She was the last remaining sibling.

Homegoing celebration services were Wednesday, Dec. 28, at St. Union Baptist Church in Jackson, with Rev. Julius Giddens IV as the officiating minister. Interment followed in Woodlawn Cemetery of Jackson.
