Mary Alice White, 76, of Grove Hill passed away Jan. 17, 2017 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in Birmingham.

She was born Jan. 16, 1941 to Wintry and Sybil White. She was a member of Ulcanush Baptist Church in Coffeeville. She was a 37- year veteran of the teaching profession at various schools in Mobile and Clarke counties. She retired from the Clarke County Board of Education. She was a member of Alabama Forestry Association, the Land Owner’s Association, 4-H and was a partner in White Farms.

Survivors include her only sister, Vivian White Paul, Grove Hill and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The service was Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at Ulcanush Baptist Church with Revs. Jesse Griffith and Holden Smith officiating. Burial was in the Ulcanush Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Benny C. “Bug” Tarleton, Dylan Robertson, Shayne Hennis, Shannon Hennis, McCual Hennis, Sawyer Hennis, Chad Hennis and Trey Hennis.

Honorary pallbearers were Tony Pruitt, Bridgett Mason, Alma Chapman, Jeanette Byrd, Annie Lou Horn, Grace Presnall, Ethel Leslie and her fellow teachers.
