Oris Dicks Harrison Jr., 84, a native of Bashi and long-time resident of Jackson passed away peacefully at his residence May 8, 2017.

He was born Aug. 10, 1932. He retired from Olin Corporation after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Jackson Church of Christ. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed spending time coaching local baseball and football teams, running (including a marathon in 1984), and in later years, spending time with family, including his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nancy Harper Harrison; two children, Terry (Vickie) Harrison, Sissy H. (Kenny) Reeves; all of Jackson; five grandchildren, Russell (Candace) Harrison, Ryan Harrison, both of Jackson, Jason (Brittney) Reeves, Florence, Jody R. (Walt) Wade, Jackson, Jeremy Reeves and fiancé Jenn Chapman, Eau Claire, Wisconsin; three greatgrandchildren, Avery and Dax Wade, Amelia Harrison, all of Jackson; one brother, Billy Jack (Bonnie) Harrison, Sweet Water.

A graveside service was May 10 at Trinity Memorial Gardens with ministers William Allison and Brian Gentle officiating.

Active pallbearers included grandsons as listed above and nephews, Drew Harper, Mobile and Brad Harrison, Lexington, Ala.

Honorary pallbearers were Doug Atchison, Roy Schell, Royce Hutcheson, Robert Hutto and Charlie Etheredge.
