Gloria Jean Robinson Ezell, 68, of Jackson, better known as “Flay Willa,” answered the Master’s call May 24, 2017 while at Providence Hospital in Mobile.

She was born on July 21, 1948 to Mildred V. King and Willie P. Robinson. She was a faithful member of the Jackson A.O.H. Church, she served on the Mother Board, was president of the Missionary Board, vice president of the Senior Choir, as well as being a Matron and assisting wherever she was needed. For many years she worked at Vanity Fair Knitting Plant and was a private caretaker. Later she opened up P&J Coffee Shop in Jackson, where she was known for her famous teacakes.

Flay loved fishing, crocheting and bragging on how good she could cook! But spending time with her family held her heart.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving and devoted husband, Sim Ezell, Jackson; daughter, Cynthia (Daryl) Kidd, Jackson; stepdaughter, Sandra (Johnny) Coleman, Jackson; three sons, James Keith Ezell, Elco, Nev., Michael Ezell, Milton, Fla., and Patrick (Michelle) Ezell, Grove Hill; sisters, Jackie Johnson, Lena, Miss., Prophetess C.B. (Bishop W.C.) Curry and Willodean Martin, both of Mobile, and Marzell (Houston) House and Sharon Tiggs, both of Jackson; brother, Willie James Robinson Jr., Mobile; brother-in-law, Johnny (Noma Dell) Ezell; sister in-law, Pearline Norwood; two aunts, Lizzie Jackson and Margaret Thomas, all of Jackson; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.

In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her son, Jarries D. Ezell Sr.; a brother, Pressley Robinson, and granddaughter Britany Robinson.

The funeral service will be Friday, June 2, with viewing from 10 a.m. until the homegoing celebration at 11 a.m. at Jackson A.O.H. Church of God. Overseer Frank Mitchell, pastor, will be the eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
