Vermel Taite Hamilton, 79, passed on peacefully Wednesday, April 26, 2017 surrounded by family.

She was born Dec. 17, 1937 to the late William D. Taite and Adelia Mae (Banks) Taite.

Vermel found Christ at an early age and was baptized at Little Rock Church. She attended Mackey Branch Middle School and as a teen. She moved to Lockport, Ill. where she finished her high school education. She was a long time member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Lockport and later, Christ Universal Temple in Chicago, Ill.

Vermel always looked after her family. When she was younger, she would look after her brothers, Deottis, George and William when their mother was not home. She continued to look after her brothers when they were all older. When family members were ill, she would care for them. She also tried to be with her Mother and Father for the Little Rock Homecoming every third Sunday in October.

Leaving to cherish memories are her two brothers, William D. Taite, George L. Taite along with her children, Patricia (Wince) Milsap, Vera E. Hamilton, Delores (James) Witcher, John Adam (Joann) Hamilton Jr., Calvin Hamilton; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, Joyce Hamilton Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, two brothers, and her son, Bernard Hamilton.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 24 at 11 a.m. at Little Rock Baptist Church at 1100 Mile Post Road in Whatley.
