Betty J. Gahlinger, 77, of Jackson, passed away July 20, 2017 at Mobile Infirmary.

She was born April 20, 1940 to Hubert and Mary Ann Miller. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, Eastern Star and the Jackson Women’s Club. She was a retired school teacher with the Clarke County Board of Education. She enjoyed cooking, art, spending time with family and travel.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, David Gahlinger, Jackson; daughters, Terri McHargue, Jackson, Tracy Gahlinger, Birmingham; grandsons, Mitch McHargue, Auburn, Miller McHargue, Illinois and a brother, Richard (Faye) Miller, Guston, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 25 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home. The service will be Wednesday, July 26 at 10 a.m. at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with Dr. Ben Stubblefield and Rev. Brian Jemison officiating. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Mitch McHargue, Harry Hamilton, Walter Looper, Troy Spence, George Bradley, Charlie Etheridge and Joe Carpenter.
